HP Elite Dragonfly G3 review – change of form, but not in heart

If there was one laptop that could bring HP on the level of Dell’s XPS and Lenovo’s ThinkPad X1 Carbon series, this would be the Elite Dragonfly. Today, we have the third generation, called the HP Elite Dragonfly G3. It is an interesting participant in the field of premium computers.

However, right from the bat, we see a change that might not be endorsed by everybody. HP has transformed the Elite Dragonfly from a convertible to a “regular” clamshell notebook. At the same time, it partially retained the touchscreen functionality, making it optional.

This decision from the manufacturer is weird, but to be honest, HP already has a ton of convertibles on the market, and has been lacking a true competitor to the aforementioned devices.

Since it was made in 2022, it comes with Intel’s 12th Gen processors. In particular, we are talking about the 15W U-series chips. This seems like a smart choice, considering the portability of the machine.

Interestingly, it has a display with a super tall 3:2 aspect ratio. You can choose between an IPS panel and an OLED panel with a higher resolution. There is also a non-touchscreen option, which has the Sure View privacy screen.

So, let’s check out this premium ultrabook, and see if it can stand a chance against the proven warriors in the field.
