Qualcomm revealed Snapdragon 617 and Snapdragon 430 – the future of mid-range devices

Qualcomm officially revealed two new SoCs intended for the middle-class devices, but adding a few new top-tier features. The new models are called Snapdragon 617 and Snapdragon 430.

Snapdragon 617 has X8 LTE capabilities along with support for Cat 7, increasing download speed up to 300 Mbps. The SoC also supports cameras with up to 21MP sensors and integrates 8 Cortex-A53 cores, clocked at 1.5GHz. Devices featuring this SoC are expected to pop up by the end of 2015.

As for the Snapdragon 430, the SoC is going to debut in 2016 and alongside we are going to see Qualcomm’s latest generation GPU – Adreno 505. According to the manufacturer, the new Adreno 500 series will bring improvements in both speed and energy efficiency. The support for 21MP cameras is also present as well as eight Cortex-A53 cores that can be clocked up to 1.2GHz.

Both SoCs will offer some neat new features like the Quick Charge 3.0 technology that assures up to four times faster charging speeds compared to standard USB charging. More information about the new SoCs is available at Qualcomm’s official website:
