Fujitsu LIFEBOOK U9310X has an outstanding display – 0.6 Average dE and 97% sRGB coverage

Fujitsu is a Japanese company specialized in manufacturing computing products. Even though, they produce laptops they do not have a mainstream line of products for the general consumers. At first sight, the Fujitsu LIFEBOOK U9310X is no different than the other similar models in the same category. Except, that the display of the device is insanely accurate.

Color representation

This Fujitsu is equipped with a Full HD IPS touchscreen. The display is 13 inches in diagonal with a 166 ppi pixel density. The maximum brightness that the LIFEBOOK is able to put out is 357 nits and the Correlated Color Temperature is 6350K.

The display of the LIFEBOOK U9310X (yellow dotted line in the image above) covers 97% of the sRGB/ITU-R BT.709 in CIE1976. However, more important here is the color accuracy, which, if we have to be honest, is not great right out of the box. Thankfully, our Gaming and Web design profile is capable of extracting everything out from the display, which results in an Average dE of 0.6 – making it one of the most accurate laptop panels that we’ve ever tested. Essentially, what this means is that the device has a display that can accurately display pretty much all of the colors found on the Internet. This means that the notebook can be effectively used by graphic designers and by other people that value color accuracy for their job or personal preferences.

The upper images show the difference in the display accuracy with the factory settings and after that with our custom profile.

Office Work

Office Work should be used mostly by users who spend most of the time looking at pieces of text, tables or just surfing. This profile aims to deliver better distinctness and clarity by keeping a flat gamma curve (2.20), native color temperature and perceptually accurate colors.

Design and Gaming

This profile is aimed at designers who work with colors professionally, and for games and movies as well. Design and Gaming takes display panels to their limits, making them as accurate as possible in the sRGB IEC61966-2-1 standard for Web and HDTV, at white point D65.

Health-Guard

Health-Guard eliminates the harmful Pulse-Width Modulation (PWM) and reduces the negative Blue Light which affects our eyes and body. Since it’s custom tailored for every panel, it manages to keep the colors perceptually accurate. Health-Guard simulates paper so the pressure on the eyes is greatly reduced.
