Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i (13″): Full Specs / In-depth Review

4 reasons to BUY the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i (13″)

1. Design and build quality

The laptop is built like a tank, or in this case, more like a stealth jet. YOu get a very aerodynamic body that is made of aluminum alloy. The laptop is very lightweight, with a weight and height of only 1.21 kg and 14.9 mm. There is also a carbon fiber lid and a magnesium/aluminum allow base option, which makes the laptop even lighter, weighing only 966 grams. We had the all-aluminum device, so we will share our opinion about it only. The body was extremely sturdy, with hardly any flexing to be seen. It also feels really thin, due to the profile on the edges getting narrow and narrower.

The lid opens easily with a single hand, revealing a glossy screen, with super-thin bezels. The top one has a notch, which houses the Webcam and the IR face-recognition sensor.

2. Display quality

The laptop comes with a single display option: a 13.3-inch QHD+ IPS display with comfortable viewing angles, a maximum brightness of 340 nits in the middle of the screen, 325 nits as an average for the entire display area, and a maximum deviation of 7%. Furthermore, we calculated a contrast ratio of 1800:1 and a 96% sRGB color coverage.

The laptop provided great color accuracy, once we applied our Design and Gaming profile, which brought down the dE value to 1.0, which is a standard-matching value. Here are the results of our color accuracy test with both the factory settings (left) and with our Design and Gaming profile applied (right)

Lavoro in ufficio

3. Battery life

The laptop comes with a 50Wh battery, which lasted for 12 hours and 43 minutes of Web browsing, and 8 hours and 56 minutes of video playback. Now, we conduct the battery tests with Windows Better performance setting turned on, screen brightness adjusted to 120 nits, and all other programs turned off except for the one we are testing the notebook with.

4. Input devices

Since the laptop is very thin, its keyboard has to comply and make some sacrifices when it comes to the key travel. Expectedly, the keys have a very short key travel, while still offering clicky and quiet feedback, with a tactile feel. The touchpad is also no slouch, as the unit has a glass cover, along with a smooth gliding and accurate tracking experience. While it lacks dedicated buttons, the mechanism that is inside the pad itself has is very clicky, but also has short travel.

1 reason NOT to buy the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i (13″)

1. Upgradeability

The laptop comes with soldered RAM, making expansion Mission Impossible. The laptop is offered with either 8 or 16GB of LPDDR4x RAM, running in dual-channel mode. Storage-wise there is one M.2 PCIe x4 drive, which is at least something.
