ASUS ZenBook Pro Duo 15 OLED UX582: Full Specs / In-depth Review

4 reasons to BUY the ASUS ZenBook Pro Duo 15 OLED UX582

1. Design and build quality

The laptop is built like a tank, using an aluminum/magnesium alloy for the whole body. This gives it a premium feel and makes it rigid and sturdy, as a laptop of this class should be. The design is very elegant, combining a circular finish on the lid, with an ErgoLift hinge, which lifts the rear end of the notebook, giving the fans more room to breathe and improving the ergonomics.

ASUS includes a stand and a wrist rest in the box, as the keyboard and touchpad have a pretty uncomfortable position. The star of the show is the ScreenPad Plus, which lifts as well, giving you a better viewing angle and giving the illusion of a singular display that spans from the top bezel all the way to the keyboard.

2. Display quality

The laptop comes with two displays, one main screen with a 4K resolution and an OLED panel, and a secondary screen called the ScreenPad Plus which also has a 4K resolution, but uses an IPS panel. The first display has comfortable viewing angles, a max brightness of around 400 nits, and an infinite contrast ratio. It also covers 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut. Going over to the secondary display, it has a lot of narrower color coverage, meaning that you cant perceive them as a single screen.

The color accuracy on the main panel is nowhere near standard matching even when we applied our Design and Gaming profile. Here are the results with both the factory settings (left) and with our profile applied (right).

Buy our profiles

Since our profiles are tailored for each display model, this article and its respective profile package are meant for ASUS ZenBook Pro Duo 15 OLED UX582 configurations with 15.6″ Samsung ATNA56WR14-0 (SDC4143) (UHD, 3840 x 2160) OLED panel.

In addition to receiving efficient and health-friendly profiles, by buying LaptopMedia's products you also support the development of our labs, where we test devices in order to produce the most objective reviews possible.

Office Work

Office Work should be used mostly by users who spend most of the time looking at pieces of text, tables or just surfing. This profile aims to deliver better distinctness and clarity by keeping a flat gamma curve (2.20), native color temperature and perceptually accurate colors.

Design and Gaming

This profile is aimed at designers who work with colors professionally, and for games and movies as well. Design and Gaming takes display panels to their limits, making them as accurate as possible in the sRGB IEC61966-2-1 standard for Web and HDTV, at white point D65.

Health-Guard

Health-Guard eliminates the harmful Pulse-Width Modulation (PWM) and reduces the negative Blue Light which affects our eyes and body. Since it’s custom tailored for every panel, it manages to keep the colors perceptually accurate. Health-Guard simulates paper so the pressure on the eyes is greatly reduced.

3. Performance

The laptop comes with two CPU options and one GPU option. You get to pick between the Core i7-10870H and the Core i9-10980HK, which are a year old, but bring the single-core performance that Intel is known for. GPU-wise, you get the RTX 3070 (Laptop), making this a versatile system that can act as a pretty powerful gaming laptop.

Our laptop had the Core i7-10870H and the RTX 3070 (Laptop), which performed better than expected thanks to the ingenious cooling of the machine.

4. Battery life

The laptop comes with a beefy 92Wh battery unit which in our tests lasted for 8 hours and 43 minutes of Web browsing, 8 hours and 33 minutes of video playback, and one hour and 34 minutes of gameplay. As with all of our tests, we have the Windows Better performance setting turned on, screen brightness adjusted to 120 nits and all other programs turned off except for the one we are testing the notebook with.

1 reason NOT to buy the ASUS ZenBook Pro Duo 15 OLED UX582

1. Upgradeability

The upgradeability is scarce, with no SODIMM slots available. You only get a single M.2 PCIe x4 slot, which is easily accessible. At least the laptop comes with up to 32GB RAM, so you will be set for a couple of years.

Here is our detailed teardown video, which shows the exact steps of accessing the single M.2 PCIe x4 slot.
