[Specs, Info, and Prices] ASUS ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 – AMD CPUs only, and RTX 30-series GPUs

Intel’s reign as the premier CPU manufacturer is finally over, it feels like. While they have been losing left and right when it came to desktop processors, they still had the laptop market to fall back on, but even that seems to be escaping their grasp.

Today we will talk about a machine, which had previously come only with Intel hardware, that has made the switch to Team Red. The device in question is the ASUS ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 (GX551), which will exclusively use the new Ryzen 5000-series CPUs, along with an RTX-30 series GPU of your choice.

You can check the prices and configurations of the ASUS ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 (GX551) in our Specs System here.

Design

The design remains the same as the previous ASUS ROG Zephyrus Duo, which is good since the metal body is both cool to the touch and feels premium when the device is in idle, but it also helps it dissipate heat further, which improves the cooling and temperatures even more. The machine looks menacing, and when you open it you experience the future, with the secondary ScreenPad Plus display that is situated in front of the keyboard.

The included wrist rest and RGB backlight keyboard further transform the machine and make it so you feel as if you are using a desktop battle station.

Display

Continuing on with the display or displays in this case, as the Zephyrus Duo features one main 15.6-inch display which comes in two variant: the base model comes with a Full HD IPS panel with a 300Hz refresh rate that is ideal for gamers, especially esports pros, who want the smoothness in shooters, for example. The other variant is a 4K IPS screen with a 120Hz refresh rate that is also great for gaming but is also great for video editing, design, and other creative work.

The secondary display, which ASUS dubs the ScreenPad Plus, is a 14.1-inch panel, which also comes in two different versions: one with a resolution of 1920×550 pixels and the other with a resolution of 3840 x 1100 pixels. Both screens have a 60Hz refresh rate and could be turned on and off separately.

Specifications

Under the hood, the Zephyrus Duo comes with the latest and greatest technology in the market. In terms of processors, the Ryzen 5000-series provides multiple options for you to choose from, depending on your budget and needs. The most powerful option comes with the AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX. Moving over to the GPUs, ASUS has doubled down on the RTX 3000-series from NVIDIA, and the laptop is available with the RTX 3080 Max-Q and RTX 3070 Max-Q.

RAM and Storage-wise you can get the machine with up to 32GB of RAM and 2TB of SSD storage. In the future, other options for RAM, storage, CPUs, and GPUs might appear as well, but as of right now this is the information that we have.
