[Specs, Info, and Prices] Acer Swift 3 (SF316-51) – Tiger Lake H and a 16-inch display in a reasonably sized package

Despite being one of the more popular laptop brands, Acer is still struggling when it comes to increasing its laptop and PC market share, holding around 6% of it, along with ASUS. Times were different before, as Acer held up to 14% of the market.

After a corporate restructuring and a new CEO, they are still in a tough place, but they are trying to make a comeback. Today we have one of these attempts, the Acer Swift 3 (SF316-51), which has an unusually sized screen but brings a decent level of performance thanks to Tiger Lake.

Today we are giving you a quick look at the Acer Swift 3 (SF316-51).

The Acer Swift 3 (SF316-51) will be available at a starting price of $999.99.

Acer Swift 3 (SF316-51): Full Specs

Design

For the price of a thousand dollars, you get an all-aluminum chassis, which will give you the premium feel along with a nice level of rigidity, keeping your notebook safe and protected. The lid works in a fashion, similar to ASUS’s ErgoLift, elevating the rear end of the device, giving the fans more room to breathe, and giving the consumer a more comfortable angle for typing. Acer has done other things to improve the cooling, such as introducing a Stereo Ring Fan, which according to them, increases the airflow by 10%, and implementing an Air Inlet Keyboard, allowing fresh air to enter the system from below the keycaps. Weight-wise the laptop is quite manageable for its size, weighing only  1.70 kg while being 15.9 mm tall.

Display

Acer gives you a single display option, with a 16.1-inch diagonal. It has a Full HD resolution and uses an IPS panel. It also turns out that the display has 100% sRGB coverage and up to 300 nits of brightness. The bezels have been extra slimmed down, giving the laptop an 88.2% screen-to-body ratio. If the screen has adequate color accuracy, it could be a sleeper laptop for creativity, as the hardware inside brings the needed performance and the big screen with a semi-portable weight will do wonders for an on-the-go creator.

Specifications and features

Specs-wise, you get two processor options, both part of the Tiger Lake family. They use the Tiger Lake H35 architecture, which is one step below the big boy, H45 chips. Regardless of that, you get the necessary level of performance, both with the Core i5 and the Core i7 models. For the graphics, you get Intel’s integrated solutions, which have shown that they are plenty capable, both when it comes to productivity and gaming, as they can handle esports titles without a problem.

Acer is betting big on security, giving you a fingerprint reader, along with Cortana voice activation, even when the device is in standby mode. Other features include a backlit keyboard, Dual Microphones with Acer Purified Voice, and stereo front-firing speakers with DTS Audio support. The laptop also supports Thunderbolt 4, Wi-Fi 6, and Bluetooth 5.
