MSI looks to have outdone itself with its new Creator 17. The device, on paper, looks untouchable, regardless of what aspect you look at it. Of course, that is also reflected in the price tag, which while might not be available as of now, will be a handful, but what else can you expect from a premium content creation device. With the latest specs from two of the most well-known brand in chip making, Intel and NVIDIA, and an astonishing display, the Creator 17 is one of the most dangerous weapons in MSI’s arsenal.

Design
The laptop comes enveloped in a stylish aluminum chassis, in an onyx black color, which makes it even more elegant and mysterious. With rounded corners and sharp edges, this is one modern-looking laptop, which you can take everywhere with you, regardless of the occasion. While it is slim, measuring at 20.25 mm, the weight is definitely a bit of an issue, with the laptop weighing 2.45 kg. You will definitely need a sturdy laptop pouch to carry it around. The laptop also doesn’t have a lot of branding, at least on the outside. The lid features the famous MSI dragon logo, which is now embossed and has a glossy finish.
Display
The device offers a single choice when it comes to the display, but it is plenty good, so you don’t have to worry about it. For starters, it has a diagonal of 17.3 inches, a 4K resolution, and uses an IPS panel. Furthermore, its specs go above and beyond to give the consumer the best possible experience when using the device for his next creative project. The display uses MiniLED technology, which prevents light bleed from bright objects, and dramatically improves how the consumer perceives darker colors. The panel has a maximum brightness of 1000 nits, covers 100% of the DCI-P3 gamut, and comes with a CalMAN verification, which translates to great color accuracy, with a dE value below 2.
Specifications and features
In terms of specs, the device is packed with powerful hardware. There are a total of two CPU choices, both of which are capable of handling heavy video editing, 3D Rendering, and graphics design. The base configuration comes with the Core i7-11800H, with the Core i9-11980HK also being there for the true professionals. There are also three GPUs to pick from: the RTX 3060, RTX 3070, and the RTX 3080, all “Laptop” versions, which share the same TDP of 95W.
The laptop comes with a Steelseries keyboard, which has a white backlight. The stereo speaker setup, which is provided by Dynaudio and is a front-firing unit. The DAC is from Nahimic, which is another Steelseries subsidiary. We also see the Cooler Boost Trinity+ cooling solution, which uses a total of three fans, with a blade that is just 0.1 mm thin, and six heat pipes.
