A new year and new laptops from MSI. The new GP-series, which has existed before, now has a new name. It was previously dubbed Leopard, which we actually liked, as it fit the sleek and powerful nature of the laptop itself. With brand new hardware and tons of features, mid-range gaming is looking better than ever.

Today we are giving you a quick overview of the MSI Vector GP66 (12Ux) and GP76 (12Ux).

Design

The design of the laptop is the same as the GP66 Leopard of last year. The body feels durable and might be made from metal, but MSI gives no confirmation. The laptop is sleek and slim on the front, with simple lines, sharp edges, and diamond-cut corners. The rear is much more aggressive, with bulging hinge covers and a rear end that definitely reminds us of a supercar.

Display

The laptops have the same display offerings, with a Full HD IPS panel with a 360Hz refresh rate or a QHD IPS display with a 240Hz refresh rate.

Specifications and features

In terms of hardware, you can get both laptops with up to a Core i9 processor, with no actual SKUs being given. If we had to guess we would expect either the Core i7-12700H and the Core i7-12800H along with the Core i9-12900H. The graphics are taken care of by the RTX 3070 Ti and the RTX 3080 Ti, which are brand new and can play games at 1440p and beyond.

The cooling is heavily addressed, with the laptop utilizing the Cooler Boost 5 solution, which has 6 heat pipes and two fans, with the fresh air coming from the keyboard and exiting through the sides and the rear.

The keyboard is provided by SteelSeries and comes with a per-key RGB backlight.

The I/O is packed and brings a total of two USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 1) ports, one USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 2) port, one USB Type-C 3.2 (Gen. 2) port, an HDMI 2.1 connector, a Mini DisplayPort, an Ethernet connector, and a 3.5 mm audio jack.
