[Specs and Info] MSI Summit E16 Flip (12Ux) – large convertible with a good amount of power

MSI’s Summit laptops present an elevated idea for business and productivity laptops. The newest generation comes with Intel 12th Gen Alder Lake processors, along with decently powerful discrete graphics that open the doors to a lot of productivity work.

In addition to that, the E16 Flip that we have here offers large 16-inch displays with high resolutions and refresh rates. The convertible nature gives you extra versatility, which is unusual for larger laptops, but it’s nice to see MSI break into unexplored territory.

Today we are giving you a quick overview of the MSI Summit E16 Flip.

MSI Summit E16 Flip: Full Specs

Design

The laptop comes with a black plastic exterior and silver MSI logos. The design is angular, with a well-shaped bottom panel that gives room for the fans on the bottom to breathe, without utilizing a lever mechanism for the lid. The chassis is also MIL-STD-810H compliant, meaning that it has passed several tests for durability. Also, for a 16-inch laptop, it is surprisingly lightweight, with a weight of 1.90 kg and a profile of just 16.85 mm.

Display

There are two 16-inch displays with a 16:10 aspect ratio. You can get either an FHD+ display or a QHD+ display. Both of them have a 165Hz refresh rate, so you’ll get smooth operation with the touchscreen in general use, or in games, which this laptop can handle. Sadly, there is no info about the color coverage or accuracy, but we would hope that they would be suitable for professional work.

Specifications and features

In terms of hardware, we have only the Core i7-1260P, which is a new CPU from the Alder Lake P-series. It comes with 12 cores and 16 threads, which are plenty for high-resource tasks and jobs that require a high core count. This equates to 4 Performance cores and 8 Efficiency cores, which are still plenty powerful. The CPU has a 28W base TDP but can boost as high as 64W, which will offer plenty of headroom for the chip to shine.

For graphics, there is the integrated Iris Xe Graphics G7 with 96 Execution units, along with the RTX 3050 and RTX 3050 Ti. They will suit you well both in gaming and in productivity, especially when paired with the iGPU. In terms of I/O, you have two USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 2) ports, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, an HDMI 2.0 port, a MicroSD card reader, and a 3.5 mm combo jack.
