[Specs and Info] MSI Prestige 14 (A12Mx / A12Sx / A12Ux) – productivity and daily use rolled into one

The jack of all trades of laptops, the 2022 model of the MSI Prestige 14 offers decent CPU and GPU options, along with high-resolution displays. The combination is light and portable enough for an office setting, while not giving away performance.

You can definitely play some games on it, with even more demanding titles. If the device manages to have a Creator-ready display, it can be a very versatile little machine for office and student work, gaming and design.

Today we are giving you a quick overview of the MSI Prestige 14 (A12Mx / A12Sx / A12Ux).

MSI Prestige 14 (A12Mx / A12Sx / A12Ux): Full Specs

Design

The laptop has great aesthetics, which is a field in that MSI has put a lot of effort. This is really smart since while we techies look at every nook and cranny when choosing a device, most consumers generally go about it in a more simplistic manner, so a beautiful and pleasing design can go a long way. The laptop looks to be made from metal, with sharp edges, rounded corners, and a simple MSI logo on the back of the lid. The lid also works as a lever, lifting up the rear end so that the fans have more access to air. In terms of portability, the laptop weighs only 1.29 kg and has a profile of just 15.9 mm.

Display

There are two display options, with a 14-inch diagonal. The base model comes with an FHD IPS display, while you can upgrade to a 4K UHD panel. Hopefully, both of them come with decent color representation since it would really make the laptop stand out from the competition.

Specifications and features

There are three Alder Lake P-series processors, with one Core i5 and two Core i7 CPUs. In terms of graphics, you can either use the integrated Iris Xe Graphics G7, which is fine for daily tasks and productivity but will struggle if you try to play more demanding games. This is where the two discrete GPUs come in, as you can get either the GTX 1650 Max-Q or the RTX 3050, which deliver more gaming performance. We will side with the RTX 3050 since the GTX 1650 is quite old now and the Max-Q variant isn’t giving us a lot of confidence.

In terms of features, there are stereo speakers, which while mounted on the bottom, come with Hi-Res Audio and DTS:X support. The I/O prioritized quality over quantity with two Thunderbolt 4 ports, one USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 1) port, a MicroSD card reader, and a 3.5 mm audio jack.
