Full Specs: Lenovo V14 Gen 2 / V15 Gen 2

Design

Since these are budget offerings, they come with a plastic chassis. The laptops are also really similar, with the only noticeable difference being the keyboard layout, with the V15 making space for a NumPad unit, which the V14 lacks. With a lightweight and thin construction, the notebooks manage to slim down to 1.60 kg for the V14 and 1.70 kg for the V15.  Both laptops, however, have a profile of 20mm.

Display

The laptops have similar display options, with two Full HD screens, with either IPS or TN panels. The V14 has an additional TN display with a 1366 x 768p resolution. The FHD IPS panel has a 300 nit max brightness and an 800:1 contrast ratio. The TN screen is slightly less bright at 250 nits and has a lower contrast ratio of 500:1.

Specifications and features

In terms of hardware, we’ll start with the lesser performing Celeron and Pentium chips. They come with either two or four cores and lack hyperthreading. They are perfect for daily tasks and media consumption but don’t expect anything more from them. Continuing the Intel trend, we have the Tiger lake G-series chips, which have Core i3, Core i5, and Core i7 options. These chips come with two or four cores and do support hyperthreading. Lastly, we have the Zen 2-based Ryzen 5000U-series processors, which consist of the Ryzen 3 5300U, Ryzen 5 5500U, and the Ryzen 7 5700U. The CPUs come with either four, six, or eight cores, and double the threads, due to their SMT technology.

Graphics, wise, we have everything from the Jasper Lake UHD Graphics to the Iris Xe Graphics. We also have AMD’s RX Vega units, along with the MX350 from NVIDIA, which can only be found inside the V14.

In terms of features, you get some stuff, including fingerprint readers, and spill-resistant keyboards that unfortunately don’t come with a backlight. Stereo speakers with Dolby Audio are also part of the package.
