Zenbook laptops offer high quality and good components, however, they do charge a premium for them. Here’s a Zenbook with a more modest price tag, which does mean you’re getting some corner-cutting, but we feel like it’s nothing major. The ZenBook Flip 15 (Q508, AMD Ryzen 5000 series) has a powerful and efficient CPU, along with a touchscreen and a discrete GPU from NVIDIA, to spice things up a bit and offer some Creator potential, as NVIDIA cards are notoriously better for video rendering.

Design

The laptop has a decent design, albeit it feels a bit different than other Zenbooks, purely from a design perspective. We have a silver finish on the outside, while the hinges and rear end are even glossier. There is one heat vent on the back of the base, which would surely increase the cooling capacity. The laptop uses metal, presumably aluminum, for the entire device, which should improve its durability. In terms of weight and height, the Zenbook Flip 15 comes in at 1.90 kg and has a profile of 19.9 mm.

Display

The display here has a Full HD resolution and uses an IPS panel. It has a standard 60Hz refresh rate and 250 nits of brightness. It has a glass cover which is a must for any touch-enabled screen, but it only covers about half of the sRGB gamut.

Specifications and features

The laptop is powered by the Ryzen 7 5700U, a Zen 2-based CPU that was part of the Zen 2 refresh in 2021. It has 8 cores and 16 threads, which means it can still trade punches with modern offerings from Intel. It’s also incredibly efficient, so you can get the best from the 56Wh battery inside. In terms of graphics, there’s the MX 450 from NVIDIA, which has 2GB of GDDR6 memory and will improve the speed of finishing video renders and image edits.

In terms of connectivity, the laptop has Wi-Fi 5 support as well as Bluetooth 5. As for I/O, there’s one USB 2.0 port, one USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 1) port, one USB Type-C 3.2 (Gen. 1) port, an HDMI 1.4 port, a MicroSD card reader, and a 3.5 mm audio jack.
