[Specs and Info] Acer Swift 3 OLED (SF314-71) – cooling will either make or break this device

The Swift series from Acer strives to bring as much performance as possible while keeping the footprint as small as possible. This is how we get the Acer Swift 3 OLED (SF314-71), which manages to pack Alder Lake H-series processors and a 2.8K OLED panel inside a tiny 14-inch body.

With this level of hardware, there are major cooling concerns, as 12th Gen Intel CPUs have shown that, in order to be groundbreaking, they need proper control over thermals.

Today we are giving you a quick overview of the Acer Swift 3 OLED (SF314-71).

Acer Swift 3 OLED (SF314-71): Full Specs

Design

The device comes with a premium aluminum casing that offers two colors: Luxury Gold and Steel Grey. As we mentioned above, the laptop is really light and thin, so you should have no trouble carrying it around from home to the office, vice versa, or wherever else you might need a laptop with this level of computing power. The design is simple, with sharp edges, rounded corners, and straight lines, making for a very sleek appearance.

Display

The display options dial down to a single choice, with a 2.8K OLED panel with a 16:10 aspect ratio. The screen is a champ, offering 500 nits of brightness, DisplayHDR 500, a 92% screen-to-body ratio, a 90Hz refresh rate and a 0.2 ms response time, and last but not least, 100% DCI-P3 coverage, which means excellent Creator capabilities. Even for general use, the panel works for you, thanks to the TUV Rheinland Eyesafe certification, which limits blue light usage.

Specifications and features

The laptop uses Alder Lake H-series processors, with both the Core i5-12500H and the Core i7-12700H being available, both of which deliver exceptional performance, but also need proper cooling in order to deliver big.

Speaking of cooling, Acer implements a solution with two heat pipes and one fan, which draws air from the keyboard, making for an inlet design while the exhaust is found at the rear. We would have wanted something beefier, but we’ll have to wait and see how the notebook performs if we ever get it in for a review.

The I/O selection covers a decent chunk of ground, with two USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 1) ports, two USB Type-C 4.0 ports with Thunderbolt 4 support, an HDMI 2.1 port with up to an 8K 60Hz output, and a 3.5 mm audio jack.
