First impressions of the mid-range Samsung Galaxy J5

Not long ago we introduced Samsung Galaxy J5 via preview and now it is in our hands. You can expect a news stream in the next couple of days along with a full in-depth review with all of our tests and analyzes. You can check the price of galaxy J5 in the following link: http://amzn.to/1LV8n7g

Even though have used the device for a really short time, we can say that it left a very good impression. It is fast, responsive and working with it was a pleasure. This is somewhat expected since the SoC inside is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 410. Sadly, we can’t say that we’re happy about the internal storage of the device because it is only 8GB. Keep in mind that out of these 8GB only 4.3GB are available to the users, so it’s likely that you’ll need to install a microSD card. Luckily the device supports memory cards with up to 128GB capacity.

The device has a 5-inch HD display meaning you’ll be able to enjoy fairly detailed images with a pixel density of 294 ppi. Perhaps the more important thing here is the Super AMOLED panel, that as expected offers high brightness and contrast levels. The colors are vivid and we can’t wait to find out how will the phone perform in our display tests.

Another thing that should be noted is that the Galaxy J5 could be used with only one hand and it feels very comfortable. This is due to the only 7.9 mm thick body and rounded edges. Anyway, you will know that this is a Samsung device from the first glance, regardless if you look at it from the front or back. The overall Galaxy appearance is intact. The back cover, which is removable, has a matte finish and is pleasant to touch. This also helps for getting a better and more secure grip of the device. We didn’t come across any squeaks, pops or indentations.

The 13MP rear camera of Samsung Galaxy J5 raises our expectations for the image quality. Furthermore, the camera features a lot of shooting modes like Panorama, Continuous Shooting, Beauty, Sound and Picture, Sport and Professional shooting, which allows you to adjust various options like ISO, white balance etc. The main camera can capture videos in Full HD resolution. The 5MP front-facing camera is also impressive – it has numerous shooting modes like Wide Selfie, Sound and Picture and Burst photo, where you can take four consecutive selfies over a few seconds course.

In the software department, we see a “Microsoft Apps” folder containing Skype, OneDrive, and OneNote apps. There are also some other custom apps coming with Samsung’s UI – TouchWiz. Among them, we see Smart Manager and Easy mode.

We don’t have any idea of the device’s battery life yet, but we have high hopes due to capacity (2600 mAh) and energy-efficient Snapdragon 410 SoC. We are pleased to find Samsung’s Ultra Power Saving mode, which dramatically increases the battery life by limiting the functions and features of the device only to the basics and turning the screen to black-white mode.
