NVIDIA GeForce 830M vs NVIDIA GeForce 930M – benchmarks and gaming tests

nvidia-geforce-930m-vs-830m

Today we decided to compare two generations of mid-range NVIDIA GPUs with one year between the releases of the two – the GeForce 830M and GeForce 930M. Both cards are used primarily in budget and multimedia notebooks as more powerful (but certainly no gaming-grade) alternatives to Intel’s integrated graphics. It is clear you won’t be able to play at high settings, but will they have enough power at least for low graphics settings?

The two graphics cards have a lot of things in common – both use the GM108 Maxwell GPU, come with 2GB DDR3 memory, the same number of ROP cores and same power consumption of 25W. The most notable differences are higher frequency of 830M and the more shading units and TMUs on the 930M. You can see the differences in the table below.

For GeForce 830M we are using a Dell Vostro 5480 configuration with Intel Core i3-4005U, coupled with 4GB RAM and for the GeForce 930M we used ASUS K555L with Intel Core i5-5200U and 4GB RAM.
