Contents

Acer

Acer Predator 15 (G9-593)

And so we kick off with a real beast – the Acer Predator 15 (G9-593). We are talking about the GTX 1070 configuration as there is also a GTX 1060 one. Anyway, the bad boy in question can be configured with an Intel Core i7-7700HQ or Intel Core i7-6700HQ processor. Additionally, you can get up to 512GB SSD + up to 1000GB HDD – pretty decent for all your heavy applications and many files that need storing.

Smooth multitasking will be ensured by the available up to 16GB of RAM. As far as your viewing experience is concerned, you get a 15.6”, Full HD (1920 x 1080), IPS display. We are also pleased to find a generous 88.8 Wh 8-cell battery which seems like a must, considering the demanding hardware that the Predator 15 has to offer. The laptop is not among the lightest with its weight of 3.70 kg but we can sort of understand that as it is packed with all these hardware components that need room to let some steam off.

Acer Predator 17 (G9-793)

Coming up second is another predator – the Acer Predator 17 (G9-793). This time we are dealing with a bigger machine – a 17-incher, to be more precise. This bad boy comes with an Intel Core i7-7700HQ or Intel Core i7-6700HQ processor (as it was the case with the Predator 15). Of course, you also receive the powerful NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 (8GB GDDR5). Additionally, you can get up to 512GB SSD + up to 2000GB HDD – an overkill for most people but it’s good to have such a generous option.

Multitasking here will be even smoother with the option of having up to 32GB of RAM. As far as your viewing experience is concerned, you get a 17.3”, 4K UHD (3840 x 2160), IPS or 17.3”, Full HD (1920 x 1080), IPS display. Again we find an 88.8 Wh 8-cell battery which was great for the 15-incher but this model has a larger display which will drain the battery faster. Thew weight has increased, as one may very well have expected, and now we have a 4.20 kg.

Alienware

Alienware 15 R3

And now that we’ve dealt with the predator, it’s time to take a look at the alien – Alienware 15 R3. This machine can be configured with a powerful Intel Core i7-7700HQ processor which accompanies the graphics card in question – NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 (8GB GDDR5). To store all your data you can use a 256GB SSD + 1000GB HDD – more than enough for most users. Memory-wise, smooth multitasking will be ensured by the available 2x 8GB DDR4 of RAM.

As far as the visual experience is concerned, you are provided with a 15.6” IPS display with Full HD (1920 x 1080 p) resolution. Under the hood, this bad boy sports a 68 Wh Li-Ion battery which is good, considering the IPS screen and demanding hardware. Additionally, the Alienware 15 R3 is not only powerful but it is also pleasing to the eye. It boasts a characteristic design of its own with a chassis made of aluminum-magnesium alloy. Another notable fact is that the laptop is only 25mm thick. It also provides modern day connectivity options with two USB Type C ports one of which supports Thunderbolt 3.

Alienware 17 R4

Moving on with the next machine on our list – Alienware 17 R4. This one is quite similar to the 15 R3, the obvious difference being that of size. The 17-incher sports an Intel Core i7-6700HQ processor accompanying the GPU in question. There is also a difference in the storage configuration – 128GB SSD + 1TB HDD (7200 rpm). It’s good to know that you have 2x 2280 PCIe NVMe (M key) and 1x 2242 PCIe NVMe (M key) ports at your disposal, should you decide to upgrade. As for the memory, you get 16GB DDR4 which is enough for most users.

And now, the most obvious change here is the display. It has grown bigger and now 17.3-inch TN panel with QHD (2560 x 1440) resolution. It’s good to know that this screen covers 93% of the sRGB colors and does not make use of PWM for brightness control. Last but not least, the 17 R4 will also make you happy with modern day connectivity options with two USB Type C ports one of which supports Thunderbolt 3.

AORUS

AORUS X5 V7

The list goes on with a laptop by AORUS – AORUS X5 V7. This is a 15-incher which sports an Intel Core i7-7820HK (@ 3.8GHz) processor accompanied by the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 (8GB GDDR5) GPU. Additionally, the model will make you happy with an awesome storage config – 1TB SSD + 1TB HDD, 7200rpm (there are two M.2 slots). Furthermore, multitasking will be smooth thanks to the available 16GB DDR4 (2400MHz) of RAM.

As far as your viewing experience goes, there is a 15.6-inch IPS display with 3K WQHD+ (2880×1620) resolution which also supports G-Sync! Indeed, it sounds promising. The laptop also features Windows 10 OS. Battery-wise, we are talking about a whopping 94.24 Wh unit. We are really satisfied that the manufacturer has chosen a larger unit since we are dealing with powerful  hardware components and pixel-rich display. What’s more, there is a USB Type-C port with support for Thunderbolt 3.

AORUS X7 v6

We continue with the next AORUS representative – AORUS X7 v6-PC3D. Its CPU is Intel Core i7-6820HK which is accompanied by the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 (8GB GDDR5) GPU, of course. Just like the above model, this one comes with 16 DDR4 (2400MHz) of RAM so multitasking should be smooth.

AORUS X7 v6-PC3D is a 17-incher as it boasts a 17.3-inch IPS display with Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution. Considering the form factor and all the powerful components, it is surprising that this bad boy weighs only 3.20 kg and has a profile thickness of 23-25 mm. Additionally, the battery size is commendable – 94 Wh.

AORUS X7 v7

AORUS X7 v7 is the last AORUS representative of the manufacturer in this list for now. The laptop comes with an Intel Core i7-7820HK processor paired with the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 (8GB GDDR5) GPU, of course. As far as the storage configuration is concerned, this bad boy ensures a 1000GB SSD + 1000GB HDD which is more than marvelous. Additionally, you get the whopping 2×16 GB DDR4 (2400 MHz) of RAM – just an overkill.

You may also wish to know that the AORUS X7 v7 comes with a 17.3-inch IPS screen with 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) resolution and support for G-Sync. Wow! That sounds quite beckoning. The battery department is also impressive – we have a 94.24 Wh unit. We are thankful for this because the hardware components and display are bound to drain any battery really fast. Anyway, all this has been cramped into a construction which weighs only 3.2 kg.

HP OMEN X

And so, the last HP representative in this list is HP OMEN X. This time the machine features an Intel Core i7-7820HK processor accompanied by the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 (8GB GDDR5X) GPU, of course. MSI

MSI GE62

And so we’ve come to the first MSI representative – MSI GE62 (MSI GE62MVR APACHE PRO-041). It can be found with the same Intel Core i7-7700HQ CPU plus NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 (8GB GDDR5) GPU configuration like most of the notebooks in this article. Storage-wise, we are looking at a 128GB SSD + 1000GB HDD config. As far as memory and multitasking are concerned, the available 16GB DDR4 of RAM should be more than enough.

For the purposes of lovely multimedia experience, the manufacturer has included a 15.6-inch IPS display with Full HD (1920 x 1080 p) resolution. As you may expect, the device operates with the Windows 10 OS. Furthermore, we are looking at a 6-cell 51 Wh battery unit which is not that big but the display is 15.6″. The MSI GE62 doesn’t miss on the contemporary connectivity options with its USB Type C port that supports the Thunderbolt 3 standard.

MSI GE63 RAIDER

Second from the MSI section is the MSI GE63 RAIDER. Yet again, we are presented with the same Intel Core i7-7700HQ CPU plus NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 (8GB GDDR5) GPU configuration. As for its storage devices, we are pleased to find a 250GB SSD + 1000GB HDD which should be more than enough for most users. When it comes to memory, the GE63 RAIDER has you covered with its 2 x 16GB DDR4 clocked at 2400 MHz. More than a decent configuration for gaming and multitasking, indeed!

As far as viewing experience is concerned, there is a 15.6-inch TN display with Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution. That’s not all though, the panel boasts a fast 120 Hz refresh rate and support for the G-Sync gaming feature. Additionally, this bad boy comes with a 51 Wh battery. The chassis is made of aluminum and it weighs only 2.20 kg. As you might have guessed, MSI GE63 RAIDER makes use of the Windows 10 OS.

MSI GE72

Third comes the MSI GE72 which is also known as MSI GE72MVR Apache Pro-001. It is similar to the GE63 RAIDER in several respects. Firstly, it comes as no surprise that the same Intel Core i7-7700HQ CPU plus NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 (8GB GDDR5) GPU configuration is present. The storage combo is the same – a 256GB SSD + 1000GB HDD. When it comes to the available RAM, we can see the first difference between the two laptops – this one features two DDR4 8GB chips instead of two 16GB sticks as it is in the above case.

Moving on to the screen section, there is a 17.3-inch TN display with Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, which is yet another difference. The OS is Windows 10 again, and the battery capacity has remained the same 51 Wh, despite the bigger screen. The chassis employs aluminum and plastic as main materials. As far as the OS goes, MSI GE72 is the same as MSI GE63 RAIDER – Windows 10. We can also say that the dimensions are compact for a 17-incher. The profile thickness is 27 mm and the weight 2.70 kg.

MSI GE73 RAIDER

Next comes another 17-incher called MSI GE73 RAIDER. Yes, you’ve guessed it. This bad boy has the same Intel Core i7-7700HQ CPU plus NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 (8GB GDDR5) GPU combo. There is a difference, however, in the storage department – we have a generous configuration of a 1000GB SSD + 1000GB HDD. When it comes to the memory, we are looking at 16 GB of DDR4 RAM clocked at 2400 MHz.

For the purpose of appealing viewing experience, the manufacturer has included a 17.3-inch TN display with Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution and a fast refresh rate of 120 Hz. When it comes to the battery, it is the same 51 Wh unit (6-cell). Another similarity with the above model is the presence of Windows 10 OS. As for the weight and thickness, they have grown by a very small margin – 2.80 kg and 29 mm.

MSI GS73VR

And so we continue with yet another MSI laptop – the GS73VR (MSI GS73VR STEALTH PRO). No, this time the well known combo is not exactly the same. Yes we have the Intel Core i7-7700HQ CPU plus NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 (8GB GDDR5) GPU but the latter is the Max-Q iteration of the graphics processor. Storage-wise, we are presented with the delightful 512GB SSD + 1000GB HDD configuration. As far as multitasking is concerned, the available 32GB DDR4 clocked at 2400 MHz are bound to deliver great performance.

Moving on to the display department, a 17.3-inch IPS display with 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) resolution – yes, this sounds like a very promising viewing experience. The OS here is Windows 10 Pro. And as for the battery, we are dealing with a 65 Wh 3-cell unit. What’s one of the most remarkable aspects of this laptop is the profile thickness – only 20 mm for a 17-incher! Yes, the weight is also pretty low – only 2.43 kg. Furthermore, this model does not skip on modern day connectivity options, as it offers a USB Type C port with support for Thunderbolt 3.

MSI GT72VR

Last but one on our list is the MSI GT72VR (also known as MSI GT72VR DOMINATOR). Again, there is a slight change to the most common configuration here. This time the processor is Intel Core i7-6700HQ but it is accompanied by the same NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 (8GB GDDR5) GPU. As for the storage, it is the familiar 128GB SSD + 1000GB HDD combo. Memory-wise, there are 2x 8GB DDR4 RAM sticks to ensure smooth multitasking.

The machine works with the Windows 10 OS. Its battery is an 8-cell 75 Wh unit – sounds really nice. Additionally, the chassis is made of aluminum which means not only light weight but also stylish design language. We must also note that the MSI GT72VR DOMINATOR does not skip on the contemporary connectivity options with its USB Type C port with Thunderbolt 3 support and Power Delivery.

MSI GT73VR

And so, we’ve come to the end of our list with the MSI GT73VR. The laptop comes with an Intel Core i7-7820HK processor and obviously the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 (8GB GDDR5) GPU. Storage-wise, we are looking at a more modest solution – only a 1000GB HDD but it’s good to know that there are 3x 2280 PCIe NVMe (M key) slots, so no need to worry in this respect. When it comes to the memory capacity, 2 x 16GB DDR4 sticks clocked at 2400 MHz is what we have here and it’s more than enough.

As for the visual experience, we have a 17.3-inch TN display with Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution and fast 120 Hz refresh rate, which is bound to fascinate gamers. Like most of the laptops in this article, this one also makes use of the Windows 10 OS. Also, the battery capacity of the 17-incher is 75 Wh. The chassis employs aluminum and plastic as main materials. Furthermore, there is a USB Type C port with Thunderbolt 3 connectivity support.
