The ProArt StudioBook series from ASUS are ultra-thin mobile workstation that features powerful processors, NVIDIA Quadro and RTX graphics cards and superb displays. All the notebooks look modern and impressive, they are light and thin but which one is the right choice for you? We will try to help you find the right answer in the following article.
We will start with the “big boy” – the One W590 model – this is the top dog. ASUS claims that this model is the “world’s most graphically-powerful laptop”. It’s equipped with a really strong Core i9-9980HK which is an 8-core 16-thread CPU and NVIDIA Quadro RTX 6000 – yes, top hardware only.
The display is a fast 120Hz 4K one that is Pantone-validated and covers 100% of the AdobeRGB gamut. ASUS gives the panel extra protection with Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The standard version of the laptop comes with 32GB DDR4 RAM and 1TB M.2 SSD on board. The battery unit is big – 90Wh. If you always demand the best and you need a workstation, the ASUS One W590 will be a great choice for your money.
The next “stop” is the Pro X W730 – another Quadro-powered laptop with impressive specs. You can have it with Quadro RTX 5000 GPU, as for the CPUs – Intel Xeon E-2276M or Core i7-9750H. This notebook supports ECC memory as well, the max size is 128GB! Well, if you need a lot of RAM this one should be in your shortlist.
The battery capacity is even bigger than the one in the flagship model – 95Wh. When you add the 1200p screen in the mix you can expect a pretty decent battery life from this device. Speaking of the display, it has 1920×1200 resolution (17.0″) and 16:10 aspect ratio which is very comfortable for reading or content creation because of the extra screen height and more pixels (for example, more GUI elements will be visible at the same time than a normal 16:9 1080p display).
The display is a four-sided ASUS NanoEdge one (the panel name is related to the slim bezels and the 92% screen-to-body ratio). You can enjoy a second display too – the integrated ASUS ScreenPad 2.0 is a great option for creative professionals. The Pro X W730 comes with two M.2 slots (with RAID support) and one “traditional” SATA slot. ASUS describes this model as “the 17” laptop that fits in a 15” briefcase” and its dimensions are really 15-ish (382 x 265 x 28.2 mm).
ASUS ProArt StudioBook Pro 17 W700 and Pro 17 H700
One step down and Pro 17 W700 and Pro 17 H700 are in front of us. They are almost the same – the W model features an NVIDIA Quadro RTX 3000 while the H variant is equipped with GeForce RTX 2060. The 17″ NanoEdge 1200p display is here again surrounded by thin bezels.
The Pro 700 models are very thin machines with an 18.4mm profile only but there is powerful hardware inside like Intel Xeon E-2276M or Core i7-9750H. For better multitasking, you can have a configuration with up to 64GB RAM. The good news is that ASUS retains the two M.2 slots with RAID functionality. Another interesting feature – the exclusive dual-function touchpad (you can use the cursor function when the NumberPad is activated).
ASUS ProArt StudioBook Pro 15 W500 and Pro 15 H500
Last but not least, the Pro 15 W500 and Pro 15 H500. Again, the same story like the one above – the W one comes with Quadro GPU and we have RTX for the H model. Those ones come with a 15.6″ 4K NanoEdge display that (again) covers 100% Adobe RGB. The battery unit looks good too with its 76Wh capacity. The power of the entry models is no joke – Core i7-9750H and RTX 2060 or Quadro RTX 5000. Even the two M.2 slots with RAID support are here too. Despite its thin profile, there is a cooling solution with 6 heat pipes and self-cleaning fans.
