As usual, let’s take a look at the hardware side of things first. All three models are powered by the latest 8th gen Intel processors – the options include the six-core Core i7-8750H and the quad-core Core i5-8300H backed up by up to 32 GB of DDR4-2666 dual-channel memory. Furthermore, they boast a hybrid storage system of up to 512 GB M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD and 1TB HDD or 1TB FireCuda SSHD. The difference comes in terms of the available GPU as both GL504GM SCAR II and GL504GM Hero II are equipped with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 with 6GB GDDR5 VRAM, whereas the GL504GS comes with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 with 8GB GDDR5 VRAM.

In terms of design, we notice that the RGB-lit keyboards of both GL504GM SCAR II and GL504GS SCAR II feature accent color on the WASD keys as opposed to highlighted QWER buttons in Hero II‘s one.

Moving on, as you can see from the table below, all three models offer a 15.6-inch IPS-level panel with FHD (1920 x 1080) and 144Hz refresh rate. However, ROG Strix Hero II (GL504GM) also comes with an IPS-level FHD (1920 x 1080) panel with a 60Hz refresh rate. All of the options feature super-narrow-bezel displays with 100% sRGB color gamut coverage, 3 ms response time and non-glare coating.
