Samsung Galaxy Book2 (14″): Full Specs

Design

The Galaxy Book2 has a simple look that reminds us a lot of their tablets and smartphones. When closed, the device appears like a single chunk of metal, with rounded corners and sharp edges. There’s only one color, Graphite, which covers the entire laptop. Samsung doesn’t like to plaster its name everywhere, so we find the branding only on the lid. In terms of build materials, considering the price, we’d accept nothing but the best. If Samsung really wants to grab the attention, they’d craft the laptop out of magnesium, which has very high durability, while also being super light. In terms of dimensions, the laptop weighs only 1.50 kg and has a profile of 19.9 mm.

Display

It’s weird not seeing an AMOLED panel here since Samsung is well-known for it, however, the Full HD IPS panel will have to do. There’s 0 info about the brightness, contrast ratio, or even color reproduction, which is sketchy, but we’d expect to get an accurate panel with at least 100% sRGB coverage.

Specifications and features

Samsung has picked the Alder Lake P-series to power the laptop, which is smart, as the CPUs can the efficient as well as powerful when the need arises. You can pick between the Core i5-1240P, Core i5-1250P, and Core i7-1260P, all with 12 cores and 16 threads. The CPUs come with the Iris Xe Graphics G7, which is excellent for productivity work in a lightweight laptop, having hardware encoding embedded into the CPU die itself.

The port selection of the Galaxy Book2 is pretty strong and includes two USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 2) ports, one USB Type-C 3.2 (Gen. 2) port, one Thunderbolt 4 port, an HDMI 2.0 port, a MicroSD card reader, a LAN port, and a 3.5 mm audio jack.

For increased security, the laptop has a FullHD webcam and an IR sensor for face recognition. The BIOS of the laptop comes with a dedicated processor which validates it every time you boot the laptop and makes a recovery image in case of failure. There’s also an Auto Recovery feature that uses the latest-made backup. You also get notifications every time there’s a tamper alert, so you know if the laptop’s been breached.
